2007 Pastors' School

Fighting the Good Fight: The Art of Faithful Conflict
Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 17-19
Crossgates UMC, Brandon

Who wants to talk about conflict, especially in the church? And yet, it often defines our days and haunts our nights. It emerged consistently as an issue for Mississippi congregations who completed the A2 Indicators.

Is it possible to engage conflict well, with grace and courage? Is it possible to learn faithful ways to move through times of tension and disagreement and to listen to what God has to teach us in the process?

2007 Pastors' School offers clergy an opportunity to expand your capacity for building up the body of Christ and to exercise your call to mediation, restoration, and covenantal relationship.

Rev. Stephanie Hixon and Rev. Tom Porter of JustPeace, experienced practicioners and teachers of conflict transformation, will serve as leaders.

JUSTPEACE Center for Mediation and Conflict Transformation is a mission of The United Methodist Church to engage conflict constructively in ways that strive for justice, reconciliation, resource preservation, and restoration of community in and through The United Methodist Church and with the church universal to the world in which we live. JUSTPEACE training focuses on the attitudes, skills, and processes needed when conflict arises.

The event will begin with dinner Monday evening.

Registration fee is $90 before Sept. 1 and $110 after. To register online, click here.
