2. 2009 Annual Conference Welcome Message from Bishop Ward

Welcome to the web page of the Mississippi Annual Conference, a portal connecting all who are linked with Christ and one another through the ministries of The United Methodist Church.

 God in Christ calls us forth to rise and shine in loving community and compassionate ministry in the world.   Through the ministry of 1140 local congregations, the connection of United Methodist people in Mississippi are seeking to welcome more people, more younger people and more diverse people into a vibrant community of loving, learning and leading.

 Through life centered in Christ, hopes emerge and vision is clarified:  Spiritual leaders beckoned, welcomed, equipped and sent forth.  More places for more people to worship, learn, serve and lead.  Engagement in the persistent challenge of local and global poverty.  Greater health and wellness for Mississippians and God’s people around the world.

 Jesus Christ stands at the door and knocks, ready to enter hearts and spirits.  Jesus Christ stands at the door and knocks with an invitation for all to come out and share in mission in the world. 

Come into our hearts, Lord Jesus, come in today, come in to stay, come into our hearts, Lord Jesus.

Out of our hearts, out of our hearts, shine out of our hearts Lord Jesus.  Shine out today, shine out always, shine out of our hearts, Lord Jesus.
