Written: 9/23/2009 The theme for the United Methodist Women’s Annual Meeting is “Come to the Table: Recruiting and Reclaiming Members.” Registration will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 2. A worship service begins at 7 p.m. with a reception following the service. Activities, including the business session resume Oct. 3 with registration at 7:45 a.m. The first session begins at 8:45 a.m. A new component this year will be an opportunity to be involved in hands-on mission while at the meeting. In conjunction with Stop Hunger Now, the group plans to package 10,000 bags of food for distribution to hungry people. The cost is only 25 cents per bag or $2,500. The program has become popular with Mississippi United Methodists over the past three years and hundreds of thousands of hungry people, many of them children, have been fed.
